T-RIC Benefits
Technology Transfer
This project establishes an innovation cluster-based consortium model and pulls together the region’s technology leaders with the region’s small manufacturers and product developers. Both a pull and push technology transfer approach is used. University technologists are called upon to identify and assess innovation opportunities within member small manufacturers, while small manufacturers are encouraged to evaluate and consider existing university research. Economic development partners are called upon to facilitate the interactions, provide product commercialization process knowledge and expertise, and additional funding to enable implementation.
T-RIC provides:
- The methods, tools and training to establish and facilitate a Regional Innovation Cluster (RIC) Consortium
- A Consortium Model to transfer technology, knowledge and research from a regionally-based university and federal laboratories to small manufacturers
- Regional benefits from the commercialization of new products and processes
